So you've looked in the mirror and noticed some lines and some dark spots, that weren't there a few months (or weeks) ago. You don't want any more lines to form, and you want to recapture that youthful glow to your skin that you had just yesterday. You looked throughout the house, and you can't find a time machine anywhere, so need to restore your skin in a different way. What are some of the best vitamins, minerals and supplements you can use to bring back that youthful look?
Evening primrose oil is a great supplement if you have eczema that you want to get rid of. It can cause slight nausea in some people, but overall, it works well, and quickly.
Oil of garlic is one of several supplements you can use to fight acne. You run the risk of having offensive breath with this, but mints, mouth fresheners and floss should do the trick. Oil of oregano fights acne too as well as psoriasis, plus fungal, viral and bacterial infections. This isn't advisable to take if you're pregnant, because you can't absorb much iron while you're on it.
Vitamin A is a great nutrient for your skin, in general. You can find it in dairy products, or in retinol, among other supplements.
Biotin, Vitamin D and Vitamin E are three other vitamins that can do wonders for your skin. Biotin helps skin cells grow. There are many different biotin supplements available on the market, but it’s also available in cheese, eggs and wheat bran. Vitamin D in supplement form is less hazardous than absorbing it through your skin while sunbathing. Plus, it helps your body replenish elastin. You can add yogurt, orange juice, milk and tuna to your diet to boost Vitamin D intake. Vitamin E makes your skin more supple and can reduce wrinkles and any signs of scarring. It is not advisable to take this if you are pregnant though. Avocados, nuts, and spinach are rich in Vitamin D through diet.
Fish oil – particularly the Omega-3 fatty acids – can help with the treatment of psoriasis. It makes skin more supple and reduces discomfort from psoriasis. What foods are high in Omega-3 fatty acids? Fish, of course, and salmon is an especially rich source.
Aloe vera not only feels great on the skin if you are sunburned, but it also can dermal tissues rebuild faster. Taken in supplement form, it can cause diarrhea, but there are no such risks with topical applications.
Silica is another supplement that can make skin more supple. Some people are allergic to it though, so if you have a reaction to it, stop taking it until you've talked to your doctor.
There are as many ideas for skin supplements as there are skin therapists. These supplements above though, are generally accepted as great products to begin your skin regimen to a more youthful and healthy you!
